Ruby Yacht affiliate
and Chicago based
producer/musician
Artie Do Good
released the double
sided project
aka beat tape
aka jazz frenzy
aka rap groover
known as Here's to Life.
For this nearly
hour-long project,
Artie properly flips a 1992
release by Shirley Horn
reminding me (conceptually)
of L'Orange's Old Soul
with Billie Holiday.
Blending his
cinematic and grandiose
production skills
(yet still crackling
and shrouded in hip-hop),
he reworked
the dreamy jazz album,
taking it to
a new dimension
and bringing along
some of his friends
(s.al, Darnell Smitherson
and Dunzo Donalds)
for the smooth ride.
