I floated inside
a comic book disguised
as a storefront, Humboldt
stick step humidity
where walls acted
like notebook pages
and murals battled
the black and white
topics of everything
and all things else
worth entering inside
a comic book designed
to be a DJ playing
Saba and Jean Deaux
while restaurants
and street corners familiar
stood out on the walls,
Boost Mobile Starbucks
underneath armored
authority thirsty
to unload and smoke
knowing full well
this two week long
superhero Chicago
storyboard has been
home all along,
right here on North Avenue
by the broken glass
scattered August parks
they're still cleaning
up the fireworks.
